Ron Hogan at Popfi asks the question: is a mural on exterior house walls a good thing or a bad thing? Who decides beauty in this case?
The site may be in Spanish, but the pictures really say it all. It’s an amazing underground wine cellar. It’s not only functional, but it looks really impressive too. I don’t own enough wine to make a wine cellar, but if I did, this would be the way to go, for sure.
Craftsman bungalows are perhaps my very favorite style of house. It’s not the curb appeal that gets me loving them, though. It’s the amazing detailing and woodwork inside. That’s why this Craftsman bungalow I stumbled onto on Hooked On Houses made me seriously cringe. Like the blogger at Hooked On Houses, I’m a bit perplexed as to why anyone would paint all that lovely woodwork white.
What do you think?
I thought this was an especially interesting example of one person’s progress while redoing their basement. I really like the sunny color they used for the walls, and the white curtains cheer things up even more. The flooring job is really cool too.

If you’re a new homeowner, there are many things you can immediately do to your home that save a lot of money and energy. Some cost very little out of pocket and some cost quite a bit, but also save quite a bit as well. Check out the Simple Dollar’s “18 Things a New Homeowner Should Do Immediately to Save Money“
There’s been a bunch of abandoned schools posted on Abandoned Places lately. This one’s my favorite.
It’s a little sad, in a way, all these schools being torn down. One in a city I used to live in is being torn down and even though I never went to that school, my heart broke a little for the school. Here’s the link to all the great pictures.
