  • As a rule of thumb, it's a good idea to have chimneys cleaned at least once a year. Usually before cold weather sets in.

    Garage Insulation 101

    Blowing-insulation
    Photo: Home Garage Help

My garage is cold in the winter, hot in the summer. I assumed it was insulated because the walls were finished, but I recently found out that no, the walls were not insulated. Thanks, builders of my home. I went searching for information about insulating the garage and found this really helpful page. I think it's completely awesome that you can insulate your garage without having to tear down the drywall. Now, it's a project worth looking into.

Do You Think Anyone Would Notice?

    WD40pen
My uncle is an usher at the same church I go to. His biggest complaint about being an usher is that the doors are squeaky, so whenever anyone gets up and goes out the door, everyone in church hears it.

Now, he blames the people- he thinks you ought to be able to sit through a church service and not leave your seat once. But I'm of the opinion that if you've gotta go, you've gotta go!

While I was in the auto parts store this weekend, I saw something nifty- a WD-40 no-mess pen. Hmmm. So now I'm thinking I could sneakily go around and de-squeak the doors so my uncle will have one less thing to complain about.

I mentioned my plan to my mom and she thinks someone might see me and think I was being disrespectful. I'm not so sure. What do you Shak-ers think? Should I oil the church doors?

The Squeaky Door Gets The WD-40

Door after Mr. Clean Magic EraserI was roaming around WikiHow today, looking for rose bush trimming instructions, when I found this cool tutorial on how to fix your squeaky door hinges. It's especially interesting to me since I just WD40ed my bedroom door last week since I was getting sick and tired of listening to it. I went to look at their tutorial and found out I did it correctly. Go me. Soon, I'll be doing home improvement projects both great and small, watch out. ;)
