When my mom was talking to the builder about building her new house, one of the things she insisted on was a secret, hidden room. The builder looked at her like she was nuts, but since she was paying the bills, she got her secret room, which looks much like the one on top of the picture.

She's a big mystery lover, so as far as I know, she's always wanted a secret room. It didn't cost too terribly much extra, so she went ahead and had it done. Nifty, eh?

i think the secret room idea is fabulous! i'm not a mystery buff — i'm just a working mom hoping to find a little peace and quiet!
