This man has a legitimate complaint. But he's so annoying! I am sure Sears really enjoys his business… every 7 years when he buys a home appliance. Unfortunately, his method of home repair is probably more of the exception. People just don't want to install water heaters themselves anymore so it's not surprising the folks at the store may have given him the run-around.

i'm glad you finally got it installed, but you should check that you did it legally and safely.
it is up to the local code to determine if you are allowed to install it yourself, and sears is probably sensitive to this as their website does not know which local codes are in effect in your area. which is prob'ly why they didn't want a non-plumber to deliver it, i'm guessing.
and, in my area, you need an electrical license ($100/yr) and to get the plumbing permit ($70), then get it inspected afterwards. it requires a properly installed drain pan, that drains to outside the house, and proper ventilation for burned gases (newer efficient units require 4" pipe), yadda, yadda…
